Yeah, I think you're right that it's easier to have a cleaner interface when the functionality is basic. Given how some of the other OS X apps are (and how Mail is on iOS), though, I don't think that's likely. It's possible that Mail.app is targeted at a completely separate, dramatically different audience. I do, however, really care about interfaces just as a user at the lowest level. I'm no expert on UI/UX design, and I wouldn't even call myself an enthusiast. toolbar is "there all the time" with a whole bunch of icons even though many of them only make sense in some contexts, so it frequently looks like clutter. ![]()
